Now Let's Get Started!

Open a 550x550 px blank canvas and flood fill it white. Open your tubes and choose 2 colors. Set them in the foreground and background in the Materials palette. Click and on the materials palette and choose 'Gradient'. In the Gradient palette choose 'Foreground-Background'. Layers/New Raster Layer; flood fill this layer with the gradient. Effects/Texture Effects/Mosaic Antique, see diagram below for settings:

Layers/Load Mask from Disk (or 'New Mask Layer' if mask is open on your work space). Apply mask - 13_mask~wf.jpg, with all these ticked: Source Luminance; Fit to Canvas; Invert Transparency; Show all Mask. Layers/Merge/Merge Group. Duplicate this layer. On the 2nd mask layer right above the white layer, Adjust/Blur/Gaussian Blur - Radius=15. Then apply the same Antique Mosaic as before to this layer. Layers/Merge/Merge Down. Click on the 1st Mask layer. Add a drop shadow with these settings: V 5, H 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5, Color Black. Layers/New Raster Layer, (this layer should be just above the 1st Mask layer). In the Materials palette click on your gradient again and change the angle to 45 degrees. (If your gradient does not have a repeat in it already it is a good idea to add at least 1.

Flood this layer with the gradient and apply the Mask again with the same settings. Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Eye Candy 5 Impact/Extrude, see diagram below for settings:

Image/Resize 80%, All Layers=unchecked. Place this layer in the center of your canvas. (See my tag for example) Resize your tubes as necessary and place in various places appearing as if they are sitting/laying/standing on a step or platform. When you are satisfied with your tube placement close off all layers but your tubes and merge visible. Add the same drop shadow as before changing 'V' to 1. Add copyright info and your watermark. Now for the text. (You may follow these directions to create the text as I have in the primary tag, or do whatever you like.) A large/fat 3D type font works best. I used the font VTC Belials Blade Shadow (included), with these settings: size=55 px; Bold; Center Alignment; Direction=; Anti-alias=Sharp; Stroke width=1.7; Vector. Type out your text. Get the Selections tool and activate the Magic Wand, use these settings: Mode: Add(shift); Match Mode: RGB Value; Tolerance: 15; Contiguous ticked; Feather=0; Anti-alias ticked; Outside. Now you have choices. Duplicate either the tube layer or the stack layer and move to cover your text. Selections/Invert, hit delete on your keyboard. Selections/Select None. (You may have to do this a couple of times to cover all of the text.) Or you may flood fill the letters with your gradient if you wish. Add a drop shadow with these settings: V 1, H 0, Opacity 100, Blur 0, Color Black. Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Eye Candy 5 Impact/Gradient Glow, see diagram below for settings:

Add another drop shadow with these settings: H 5, V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5, Color Black. Image/Resize 85% 'All Layers' - checked. If you are not going to animate the tag, merge and flatten all layers and 'save as' a jpeg. If you are animating PLEASE continue.

ANIMATION

Close your 2 bottom layers, click on your top layer and merge visible. You now have 3 layers; main image, mask, background. Duplicate the mask (2nd) layer 2 times. Click on the 1st mask layer. Effects/Effect Browser: apply browser (noise) effects see diagram below for setting:

Browser Effect Diagram

On the 2nd layer change the Noise to '35' and on the 3rd layer to '45'. Click on the top (main image) layer and duplicate it 2 times. Click on the bottom (background) layer and duplicate it 2 times. Close layers 2 and 3 of each group. Click on the top layer and merge visible. Close this layer and open layers 2 of each group with the 2nd layer active. Merge visible. Hide this layer and click on the 3rd layer and open layer 3 of each group. Merge visible. Open all 3 layers/frames. Click on the 1st layer. Edit/Copy. Open your favorite animation software and 'Edit/Paste as new animation. Back to PSP, click on the 2nd layer 'Edit/Copy , back to animation software and paste 'Edit/Paste after current frame'. Repeat process with the 3rd layer. Set the frame speed to 10 and save as a .gif file.

Here are some examples of the versatility of this tutorial. I have added 'Glass' and 'Sharpness' to the 'Stack Layer' on the following examples and different 'text styles'.
